Diversity in Geothermal
With those goals in mind, we have established a task force of volunteers to lead Geothermal Rising’s efforts and establish our community leadership, metrics, analysis, and guidelines. We will be publishing materials and information to help support our industries in their own endeavors, and will be establishing activities within our program to educate, inform and engage.
In 2022, Geothermal Rising introduced the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Champion Award as the newest addition to the annual Honors and Awards that are given out to industry leaders. The focus of this award is to recognize individuals creating a more diverse, equitable and inclusive environment for historically excluded groups in the STEM disciplines (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics), especially those in which geothermal is a key factor.
The 2023 recipient was Johanna Ostrum.
Members of GR's Diversity, Equity & Inclusion task force wrote a paper titled "Diversity and Inclusion in the Geothermal Community: Beginning the Journey of a Thousand Miles" that was presented at the 2022 Geothermal Rising Conference (GRC).
Photos from the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) panel session at the 2022 Geothermal Rising Conference (GRC) have now been added to the GR Flickr page.
